Storylines: It is always simple when it comes to playing Midwestern State, this game is for something big, and it always is. In my ask the opponent segment, our MSU fan friend Casual Observer brought up something that I believe is the key to beating MSU. I watched film from the games from 2014, 2015, and 2016, trying to figure out where it all started to go wrong for the Lions, and it was obvious it was when the leads had hit their peaks, the Lions started pulling off the pedal. This cannot happen. Most of the wins in the Carthel era have ranged from comfortable margin wins to complete blowouts, but with MSU, there has been a difference, and that is finishing the game. The one thing that I saw watching the Hudl films is this, MSU saw The Lions get conservative and they went for the throat. Commerce was the hare, and MSU was the tortoise. If that is not part of the game plan tomorrow, I believe the Lions will deliver a good win. On paper the Lions are the better team, and they must be the better team during the fourth quarter of tomorrow’s game.
After putting in a few hours in the office tomorrow morning I will be heading to Wichita Falls and probably get there a couple of hours before kickoff, hope to see some of you there.
