- I mean, a win is a win. This is one of those games that you will have to have watched from start to finish. It wasn’d as dominant as it could have been, but it did not look quite as bad as some might think. It was a gritty win.
- The game was won in the trenches by the Lion defensive line and offensive line. Jack Jacobs got the start at Quarterback and eased his way into the game and one of the scores nor Northwestern came on a run/pass option gone awry. That said, The Lion running attack gashed the Demons all game long and that was so important.
- The Lion defense was stout for most of the game, and they only allowed one score and got a turnover in the fourth quarter. Northwestern threw them a curve ball by switching up Quarterbacks which allowed them to open up their playbook, but hat tip to Jesse Thompson for making the necessary adjustments.
- Special teams improved from last week, not as good as they were against Mercer. Ben Mehan returned to conventional punting and it was so much better than last week, and the coverage was improved.
- Starting Jack Jacobs at quarterback was somewhat of a risk but it was necessary, and as the game went on, he got better and more confident, and it showed in the throws.
- The game didn’t start very well, but the attitude was good and the Lions were able to grind their way to a pretty good win, at home. Necessary and relieved.
