University Related-Something really cool regarding our President Dr. Dan Jones. President Jones was asked to speak at the funeral of Ray Price, the legendary Country Music Pioneer who passed away in late December. Price was well loved by many across the music spectrum but Texans really loved the guy. I have listened to some of his stuff and he certainly has that admiration for a reason. Price had moved to Mount Pleasant, about 75 miles east of Commerce, and he had an honorary doctorate conferred on him in 2009. Here is the story via KETR-http://ketr.org/term/local-interest
Huge Congrats are in order for former Lion Danny Mason. Danny was an assistant for HC Carthel’s staff this past season, helping with the defense while finishing his degree in Criminal Justice, and was contacted by the Texas Revolution of the IFL (Indoor Football League). I was hoping that Danny would get a shot on the next level, and with the awesome career he had in Commerce, his year experience as an assistant Coach and finishing up his degree, we all wish Danny the best. We know he has what it takes. Just a side note, the Texas Revolution are an IFL team that used to be known as the Allen Wranglers, but renamed themselves and will be playing in the same place, the Allen Special Event Center, that the previous team did.
