I hope everyone across North Texas is enjoying the snow and cancelled classes and work, and for the love of all that is good, keep you eyes on the road and slow down. That aside, last night both the Lion and Lady Lion Basketball squads picked up huge wins against Cameron University in Commerce. The Men shot the lights out en route to an 89-79 win against the Aggies and the Lady Lions cruised by the Lady Aggies, 67-56, both teams getting huge wins that showed their emotion and skill. These are both huge wins as I have said before, you have to win your home games in this conference because of how tough the road wins are to come by. Full stories per Lion athletics
I’ll have a national signing day mesh up tomorrow, going by position, region, and other categories. A side note, Coach Carthel addressed the huge signing class in regards to scholarship money and informed the masses that a large number of the signees are getting academic scholarships as well. This lines right up with what AD Ivey said in the interview, they want quality athletes AND students. Very pleased by that information.
In regards to my meeting with Ryan Ivey, as I stated, it was a fantastic experience. From his welcoming me in to everything in between, the guy just exudes confidence and pride into what is he doing for the program. He is also a very focused man and I can tell is realistic regarding what can be done and in what time frame it can be done. He showed me the preliminary specks of the new softball facility, and also answered my questions regarding if we will ever get a Baseball team, to which he said more than likely we will, it’s just a matter of the stars aligning at the right time. The fact that he took the questions a guys who is not even 30 yet, and only just opines on the things that go on, really impressed me. I will have to say, if I had been doing the hiring, he would have impossible to not hire, he is that impressive of an administrator and a person. Hat tip to him again in supplying me with all the information he did.
As I stated, please stay safe out there with the weather.
