Congrats are in order to the Lion Student Athletes that tallied 85 academic honors for the fall semester. 19 made the President’s list by notching a perfect 4.0 for the semester, and 66 others made the Dean’s list, notching a 3.5 GPA or better. Here is the list and article. 20 of them came from the Football team, including WR Taylor Peshea, who had a great year as a possession receiver. A quarter of the academic student success came from the Football team. A testament to Coach Carthel’s program and the players he put on the field this year. Lion’s Hoops-
A lot to discuss regarding the Hoopsters due to the 2 day absence. First off, it was huge for the Men to grab the win against TAMUK that they did. One thing that does bother me is that the guys tried to sit on the lead and salt away the game. I am all for playing with your head to get a win, but I am also wondering what in the world can you do when you can’t go into a stall or play keep-away with a 40 second shot clock? I know HC Walker is a smart coach and likes to grind games down to pace he is comfortable with and try to dictate it, but bottom line is this, we got the win we needed before heading out to San Angelo, period. It is going to be a big time challenge to get win number 13, but this is a group that is up to it. Onto the next matchup-
Texas A&M-Commerce Lions (12-2, 1-1 LSC) VS. Angelo State Rams (10-3, 0-1 LSC)
Sunday, January 12, 2014 • 5:05 p.m.
Junell Center (5,600) • San Angelo, Texas
Radio: KETR 88.9 FM • Live Stats •• Twitter: @Lion_MBB • TV: Comcast Sports Net Houston
That’s right, this one is on TV. You can stream it, and for some reason, they are broadcasting this in the Eastern part of the state on TV Comcast, but not in the DFW metroplex or in West Texas. I don’t get it, but you can stream. ASU is coming off a complete butt-kicking at the hands of our blood rival Tarleton State, who is ranked number 9 in the nation, but ASU is a 10 win team and we are playing them there. This one will come down to who makes the plays at the end of the game and who does not have to play catch up.
Now, for the Ladies….
Texas A&M-Commerce Lady Lions (2-10, 1-2) VS. Angelo State Rambelles (7-5, 1-1)
