A lot of sports to get to so let’s get to it.

Volleyball-

Craig Case’s Volleyball squad continues to push their season to the limit as his squad has now notched a 20-5 overall record and a 12-3 LSC record notching them a number 21 ranking nationally and second in the Lone Star Conference. The Lions face Cameron’s Lady Aggies Tonight in Cameron before returning to the Fieldhouse Friday night to host Western New Mexico. This group is in strong contention to return to the NCAA Division II tournament.

Shelley Chapron of Houston, Texas has been named LSC player of the week three times. The Junior out of St. Pius X School has had a monster season, as has Senior Jaryn Wacker. The Austin Senior from Vista High was named LSC player of the week in September. The group has 5 more regular season games before the LSC tournament.

Soccer-

With 2 regular season matches left in the year, the Lion soccer squad sits at an 8-6 record. There is hope for a 10-6 regular season and a strong showing in the LSC tournament to extend the Lions playoff hopes in the Division II tournament. Also, having two in region matches cancel due to weather has not helped things either. The Ladies face Texas Women’s Wednesday Night in Commerce and close the regular season Friday Night against Midwestern State in Commerce.

Cross Country-

The Men’s Cross Country team continues to have a challenging season, but they did pick up 2nd place at their own meet in Commerce, finishing second in the East Texas shootout at Centennial Park  in Commerce, while their Women counterparts finished 3rd. Both teams run this afternoon at the Angelo State Meet before heading to the LSC Championships in Canyon, hosted by West Texas A&M on November 3rd. Their performance at that meet will determine if they will compete in the NCAA South Central Regionals.

Misc News-

The Lion Football team remains ranked 18th in the country and is 7th in the first round of NCAA Super Region 4 standings, meaning they are holding on to the final playoff spot in the Region.

Golf-In the final Golf tournament of the Fall, the Lions are in New Mexico competing in the University of New Mexico’s Golf tournament. The Men finished their fall slate last week by taking 2nd place in the Midwestern State Tournament.

Both teams resume their Golf Seasons in the first week of March.
