Jason Burton coached his 100th game and it was a good one and an important one, as the Lions pushed their record to 9-5 overall and notched another huge LSC win to move to 6-1 as the Lions downed arch-rival Tarleton State 68-62. Burton’s career record is now 59-41 overall and 36-23 in LSC play overall. Burton could very well be the winningest coach in program history in a very short amount of time and his squad has done nothing but improve and get better.
A few notes:
The Ladies shot the ball VERY well from both FG and 3 point range. You cannot beat good shooting.
Rebounding is always the x-factor in close games, and the Lions out rebounded the TexAnns by 15. That is SUPER important as close games are won and lost by who controls the boards.
Turnovers have to be corrected. The Lions have won big games, but 27 Turnovers are not acceptable and certainly going to make games harder to win. I am sure Coach Burton will be addressing this.
Next Up: Saturday, January 13, 2 PM At Texas Women’s University (6-6 overall, 3-3 in LSC). Kitty Magee Arena, Denton, Texas.
