TAMUC President Dr. Ray Keck and AD Tim McMurray have pulled a fast one on us and decided to extend the contract of HC Colby Carthel until 202o. Just last season Carthel was extended until 2018 with options, but now it is apparent the school and Carthel are thinking long term to win and get the program back to competing to national championships.

TAMUC President Dr. Ray Keck-
“Colby Carthel exemplifies everything right about intercollegiate athletics and developing young men as scholars, athletes, and gentlemen, It has been a privilege to watch what our football program accomplished in 2016, and I know our Lion community is excited about the trail Colby has blazed for the future.”
Athletic Director Tim McMurray-
Colby Carthel has changed the culture of our football program in his time at Texas A&M-Commerce, and I am extremely pleased that, he, Sarah, and Major have extended their commitment to Lion football, Not only does his program exemplify the “Best in Class” mantra on the field, but in everything our football program does. I am certain that Lion Football will continue its climb ‘To The Top’ under his leadership. “
And finally the Man himself-
“Sarah, Major, and I love Commerce, America, and it’s fun to win a bunch of football games, so we’re excited to continue the climb to the top with this Lion football program, We greatly appreciate our administration, faculty, staff, students, and the tremendous fans, as they all help make this the best job in the country.”
As a fan and alum, I am glad that we have a President who is willing to invest not only into a winning culture, but a program that wants one that does things the right way. We have an AD that is really building a great program on the base that was poured by a previous AD, and we have a coach that wants to be in Commerce, TX, that wants to stay here and wants to win. This is a great thing for the program going forward and the team that comes back next year is completely loaded on all sides of all the ball. Next year should be another great year. Here is to 4 in a row.
