New polls came out today and the Lions moved up both nationally and regionally. The national poll doesn’t really mean much from a playoff seeding perspective, but the move up in the regional rankings helps a lot. If we stay at 4, we will host an on campus playoff game, our first since 1991, and as things stand right now, you are probably looking at hosting Ashland (Michigan). This week the team focuses on traveling down to Odessa to take on conference newcomer UT-Permian Basin. I might have an ask the opponent as I just met a fan who might provide some valuable information. This week should be telling about a brand new opponent.
Despite dropping a 1-0 decision to Angelo State, the Lady Lions still notched a share of the conference championship, yet another set of hardware for the Soccer team and another great season. The team is headed for the NCAA tournament for sure, but the Lions have to prepare for the Conference tournament to be hosted in Commerce. They ladies wait for the winner of the 4/5th seed game. Great to have the tournament hosted back in Commerce.
Lion Volleyball notched a huge win over A&M-Kingsville, pushing their record to 15-11 overall and 9-6 in LSC play. Seeding now comes into play for the conference tournament. For such a young team, they have shown a lot of fight and so much of it has been just sheer grit getting the wins they have. The Lions head up to the Sooner State to take on Cameron at Aggie Gym on 7 PM on Tuesday.
Cross Country News- Coach Ross Smithey has stepped down to pursue other career opportunities and assistant George Pincock has taken the interim role. Do not know much about this but there will be more in the coming days I am sure.
