Overall Opining: From start to finish, this was a dominating performance by the Lions. It took 90 seconds to establish domination, and what you saw from that point on was nothing but sheer dominance on the offensive side, hard nosed and well disciplined defensive football, and special teams that could not be done any better.…
Just a complete domination by the Lions. Just a few thoughts. Again, total domination on all three sides of the ball. Just a great overall performance by the Lions Luis Perez was good last week, he was GREAT this week. He just looks in complete control and has the poise and presence that is needed…
No Colby Carthel-I really do not know how HC Carthel delegates the coaching, but I know this, if they work for him, they share his overall philosophy on coaching. They have a plan of attack the job of the players is to execute. I also wonder how hard this must be on him as I…

The number 7 ranked Lions will head off West to face Eastern New Mexico in Portales, NM. This is the first time The Lions will face the Greyhounds in their brand new on campus stadium in Portales. I have no idea what is going to happen to the stadium at Blackwater Draw. I say keep…
Grades, MVP’s and overall thoughts. All in Reverse order. Overall opining: First, The Lions went into a tough environment against a very good team with a new quarterback, new defensive players, and a lot of unknowns. We know now a lot of other things. Like our offense is legit, our REC’s are fast, Richard…
I still have some binge college football watching to do, but I will have the post mortem up tomorrow. This was a huge win either way you add, subtract, divide or multiply it. Grades, MVP’s and overall thoughts tomorrow. What a great win.
One half left to play. Let’s clean up the sloppy play and head back to Northeast Texas with a win. Let’s do this!
Not an impressive first half. Jason Osei is killing us with his holding penalties. He killed two scoring drives by himself. That has to end. Luis Perez is playing very well. His passer rating is at 254. Wow. The offense cannot be stopped so long as Osei stops holding and the play callers stop committing…

I was going to say I have a surprise for all of you, but I will just go with this. Every game week as part of the write up I will have an opponent’s fan that I have contact on the D2football.com message board that is willing to sit down with me and discuss the…
Versus Some new polls are out and the AFCA poll has us moved up # 8 and the d2football.com poll has us up to 16th. A lot of people are upset that we have moved up but all I can say is that we played the hand we were dealt and played it well.…
Overall Thoughts: Well, as many of you already know, I have joined the KETR and Lion Sports Network broadcasting team as a sideline commentator for the season. I will be doing the home games and tonight was my first one. I had the privilege of working with Charlie Chitwood and Brock Calloway and both of…
Versus When: Thursday, 7:00 PM Where: Memorial Stadium, Commerce, TX Weather: 90 Degrees, North Wind @ 5 MPH Storylines: It is nearly impossible to do a decent preview of this game other than to just basically look to see what we have to start the season. I looked near and far for just about…
A very Happy Birthday to Head Coach Colby Carthel, just a handful of days before he starts his 4th season as the head football coach in Commerce. It has been a great run and we look forward to many more. Winning is not just what HC Carthel has brought back to the Blacklands, but good…
Congratulations to former ET Lion QB Clint Dolezel who led his team to the Arena Bowl Championship last night, defeating the Arizona Rattlers 56-42. This just puts another cherry on top of Dolezel’s illustrious Arena Career. It is past time to nominate him to the Hall of Fame. Congrats to # 13 of old ET!…
Congrats to former Lion QB Clint Dolezel who was named the Arena Football League’s Coach of the Year. The future AFL Hall of Famer notched his second straight coach of the year award. In 4 seasons as Head Coach, Dolezel owns a 49-21 record in addition to his record setting career as a Quarterback…
Some new preseason polls have come out that affect all Lions athletics. So lets get to it. Lions Soccer-Soccer Picked to repeat as Conference Champions. With preseason defensive MVP Vicky Back tabbed as a favorite, Neil Piper’s Lions are looking to grab their 2nd Conference Championship in 3 years. HC Piper on the preseason selection.…
I usually do not write about things that are not sports related, those are for rare occasions and the is somewhat off base, but after the events of the past week in regards to a group that I was involved with while I was an undergraduate student, and with things that have happened the past…
The American Football Coaches Association released their top 25 pre-season poll and they have the Lions at # 9, the highest ever pre-season ranking since the coaches poll started back in 2000. This is a pretty big deal to come out ranked in the top ten, and one thing you notice is that the Lions…
