The No Huddle Preview-The Lions, fresh off of their first win of the season, head north to Land of the Muscogee and take on the Golden Hurricanes of Tulsa. Tulsa is 2-0, having defeated in state rival Oklahoma State in week 1, and then defeating Sam Houston last week. This is a big test for East Texas as most would see what this bascially is, which is a paycheck game, but for the Lions, who are 42.5 point underdogs, it is a test. A test to see how much they have improved from last week, and the week before that, and before that. Tulsa was 4-8 last year and their competition does not appear to have been that stout based on what has happened (or not happened).

On offense, Jack Jacobs might have gotten the spot at Quarterback as Eric Rodriguez looks to be more hurt than originally thought according to sources. Rodriguez has been hurt really since the SFA game and was in street clothes last week. Jacobs will have to step up and lead the offense and battle through rough patches if this will be his offense to command, but since we have nothing definitive, don’t be surprised if you see someone else at Quarterback.

Defensively, the Lion offense has to stop Tulsa’s running game. They have two explosive running backs and a big strong physical offensive line. This one will be decided in the trenches on both sides but moreso on the defensive side than on the offensive side. The Lion secondary will also be tested as TU has a good passing attack, but the Hurricanes love to gash it on the ground. Lion bodies must be fresh and bring the physicality.

Special teams will once again determine how close this could be, and no more important than punt and kickoff coverage. This is an absolute must. If not, Tulsa’s athletes can burn a hole in any hope of an upset or a respectable loss to a team that is just outside the FBA Top 25.
