Storylines: Time flies when you are having fun, and this season has been loads of fun, especially games at the Hawk. In 4 games, the Lions have dominated all opponents and this class could be 1 of only 2 classes in the past 10 years that has been undefeated at home, and tomorrow should be no exception. It could be the the last home game we play this season, and that should mean something for this group of Seniors, many of whom played on the National Championship team 2 years ago.

UTPB is a program on the rise and I actually root for them with the notable exception of when they play the Blue and Gold of course. UTPB has been slowly inching closer and closer to getting out of the bottom half of the Lone Star Conference. Their school and student body is totally behind them and they want winning football in the Permian Basin. They picked up a huge conference win, beating Eastern New Mexico for the first time in school history last week. They also came within a score of defeating a defending national champion last year. This team plays hard. They do not have the horses right now to contend, but they do have the heart, and sometimes heart can and does beat talent. If the Lions want to make a final home statement at home, tomorrow would be the perfect time. Hopefully it will be the type of win that allows starters to rest some and guys down on the depth chart some playing time. Because next week the playoffs start, and they start with Angelo State. But first, the biggest game of this season is UTPB, and it is time to have a take no prisoners approach and put this one away early and convincingly.
