The Morning Wire: November 26

First, I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving with friends and family. The Fall sports season has wrapped up so let’s get to it.

First, I wanted to let anyone who is on Facebook (and really, who isn’t?) to know you can keep up with a lot of breaking news information on our official Facebook Page. Link Below-

Congrats to Junior Shelley Chapron (Houston, TX, St. Pius X High School) who was named first team all Regional by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Congrats to her and I am sure most post season accolades will come as the various associations hand them at.

Women’s Hoops-

Jason Burton’s squad pushed their record to 3-3 overall. They dropped a 62-51 decision to St. Mary’s in Commerce as cold shooting proved to be their demise and hot shooting by St. Mary’s made things worse, but then rebounded to knock off former LSC rival Southeastern Oklahoma State 76-67. LSC play opens this Thursday as does a 4 game home stand by facing Angelo State on Thursday at 1 PM, then taking on Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. Then, two non conference opponents come to Commerce next week in Northeastern Oklahoma State and Dallas Christian College.

Men’s Hoops-

Jaret Von Rosenberg’s team is now 5-2 after a split week. After an impressive win over # 25 Regis in Denver, they dropped a hard fought 76-69 decision to Metro State. Conference play starts Thursday for an early 11 AM tip against Angelo State and then host Texas A&M-Kingsville that Saturday. They start December with 3 non conference games at Home against Central Baptist College, Dallas Baptist University, and Texas A&M-International before LSC play resumes.

Stay tuned this week for a wrap up of the season and also some rumors of what might happen in the offseason or what might be hoped for.
