Storylines: There is a cloud that hangs over the conference, and really everyone who knows the story of Robert Grays. At work I have some parents that heard about it that have kids that play football, and one Football Mom put it to me like this; “I love my Son and love watching him play football, but now it seems like I am sending him to war rather than to play a game.” I understand her sentiments, what we do need to do is pray for all players that God will keep them and protect them. And we of course send out the continued prayers for Robert Grays and his family. Coaches just need to continue to do what they are doing, teach their kids how and when to hit, and to properly tackle and initiate contact that will avoid or lessen injury, after that, it is in God’s hands.

In regards to this rivalry, The Lions are looking at going for win number 6 in a row against the Hoggies. The longest streak of wins is at 8 straight wins that TAMUK holds from 1992-1999. The Javelinas hold the all time record advantage 35-27-1 overall, and it is the only team in the LSC that the Lions do not hold the All Time Record against.

Luis Perez continues his assault on the passing record books in Commerce. He currently sits at 9th overall in career yards, 9th in completions, and 6th in TD passes. If I was a betting man, I say he overtakes Jim Brown for most TD passes in a career and probably lands at least 3rd in completions and yards, that is if does not overtake them which he easily could.

Kristov Martinez also has his crusade against the Lion Scoring Records as he is chasing the great Billy Watkins. More than likely, Martinez breaks that record this week or next, and will get the PAT record for a career as he is only 11 behind Watkins. Though he is quite a bit behind on career field goals, bear in mind Martinez has the rest of this year and next year to go. No doubt he will get there.
