Coach Speak Snip:
HC Craig Case: “Preseason rankings are very difficult to come up with,So much can change from last season with graduations and transfers that you really don’t know how things are going to look for everyone. To be picked fourth is complimentary and exciting but our goal is to win a championship. Where we’re picked doesn’t change our focus moving forward……………………This is going to be an exciting year for the LSC volleyball league, There are so many strong players and teams this year that every night is going to have a playoff-level intensity. All 11 teams are so close that every night is going to come down to who shows up to play the best volleyball. You can’t ask for more exciting volleyball than that.”
Lions start their season against Southwest Baptist in the Tarleton State tournament in Stephenville on September 1st.
Soccer picked to three-peat-
The LSC Coaches Poll for Soccer was released the A&M-Commerce Lions were picked to repeat again as LSC champions. Ranked 15th in the country to start the season, The Lions also placed Junior GK Caitlin Duty as Pre-Season Goalkeeper of the year.
Coach Speak, HC Neil Piper On The Preseason Ranking-
“It’s nice to have that reputation and that respect from our peers, But at the end of the day, it doesn’t mean much. We still have to go out and play well. If anything, it puts a target on our backs.”
On Caitlin Duty-
“She has to build on what she did last year,She led the league in a lot of statistical categories and we need her to keep playing well and to continue to improve.”
The Lions kick off their season on their home pitch September 1st against Florida Tech at 7:30.
