Rarely do players get to experience 5 years of successful Football on the college level, but for Wideout Billy Minor (1988-1992), he is the exception that rule. Billy has been another great friend to this blog and to me personally. Here is Billy’s ET Lion File.
In his first game back from Injury in 1990, Billy Minor torched West Alabama (then Known as Livingston University) for an 80 yard touchdown.

Favorite ET School Memory: “The first day of camp in 88 when I met Eric Turner. Two dumb freshmen unaware of what we were getting into and a lifelong friendship started that day.”
Favorite Football Memory: “The 1991 win in Kingsville and how excited we were to pull off the win at the home of the little piggies…haha! First time since 1982 we were able to win there.”
Awards: 2 time All-Lone Star Conference Selection including First Team in 1992. Left school as Top 10 receiver in catches and yards and remain 7th all time in yards. Conference Champion in 1990 and finished as conference runner up 3 times (88,91,92) and NCAA National Quarterfinalist (1990, 1991).
Overview: Billy Minor has seen the best and worst a Football career in College has to offer. To the heights of winning conference championships, notching first team all conference, and winning playoff games to the lows of tearing his ACL in 1989 and watching his team struggle to a 4-6 season, Minor saw it all in Commerce. He left his imprint in Commerce in the form of records and part of one of the best teams to come through Commerce, and left as an all time Lion great.
