Storylines: For the 4th straight season, a final game at Memorial Stadium has huge implications and for those last regular season games all were losses. 2013 was simple, beat Eastern New Mexico and bowl bid was a certain thing. The result was a loss to ENMU and having to hope at the good folks at the Texarkana Bowl would extend an offer for a bid and they did thankfully. In 2014, the final game was awful to watch only for the Lions to make a massive rally and come up short at the goal line. Last season against Midwestern, we had a lead against Midwestern with under 6 minutes to go only to lose again at the last second and rather than hosting a playoff game, we got seeded low and had to play the number 1 team in the country.
Tomorrow has a lot at stake, and it is simple. A win gets you at least a share of a third straight conference title, secures a place in the playoffs and probably a position to host a playoff game for the first time since 1991. It also gives you 5 straight wins against Tarleton and 4 straight President’s Cup wins. A loss would be just tough to swallow. HC Carthel said in his weekly presser that his team is taking TSU seriously. The staff seems like it knows this TSU team pretty well, hopefully we will see that executed on the field tomorrow.
