Let me start off by saying this. There are two types of officials influencing the outcome of a game. One type when the Refs are clearly biased against another team or have ties in with a team and want to see them succeed (think Randy Christal and John Bible for Texas). They are rare, but…
Sun is up and should be a beautiful day in the Northeast Texas Blacklands and I will be making my way up there in a few hours to start the festivities early. Large crowd expected. Also a note……if you are like most and will be going to Commerce and taking I-30 and have to go…
First Down-Overall Opining Well, this is looking to be very much a repeat of what we experienced 2 seasons ago in Arlington. I really believe that the win over DSU two seasons ago, when nobody, and I emphasize NOBODY picked us to win is one of the defining victories in the Carthel era. It put…
Well, the first game of the 2015 season is in the books, and overall, it was a good experience. I had a treasure trove of stuff I was going to be able to via podcast with the new Iphone 6, but I can’t due to a very unfortunate and downright unneccesary. I had set up…
The Lions pick up win number 9, pick up their first post season win since 1991, and put a fine cherry on top of a great season. Write up tomorrow. We are Lions!
Storylines- Well, what a way to end the season. I am becoming more of a glass half full guy, and this is the way I see it. Not all teams can win their conference AND end the season with a win. Only two teams will do that. The National Champion, and the teams that win…
The good people down in Copperas Cove have extended an invite to the Lions and we will see an old foe, the East Central Tigers down in Central Texas. I have to say that I am happy we ended up in the post season yet again, but I am hoping that the guys wont walk…
Consider it payback for our Football team getting hosed out of the playoff picture, but the Lady Lion Soccer team beat Angelo State for the third straight time and are heading to the sweet 16 in D2 soccer. Madison Cordts hit the net in the 44th minute as the Ladies went on to defeat the…
Overall: A truly heartbreaking end to a great season. I really cannot say much about the game other than we played a poor first half, and a fantastic 4th quarter. You have to play all 4 quarters to win, and ASU did that. Congrats to them. So, it looks as if we are out of…
So, the season comes down to this. One game. Win, and you have become the most reversed program in college football, maybe in the entire land. You win your conference, knock off 9 teams, and are going to the NCAA Division II playoffs, something that even some of the best teams in the nation do…
Lady Lions defeat the Angelo State Rambelles 3-2, to take yet another conference championship, and now look to their NCAA national tournament bid. Congrats to HC Neil Piper on another magnificent season!.
Wow. What a game. I am furious that I had decided to stay home and nurse my cold when I should have just sucked it up and made the drive. I was listening to it on the radio while watching it live, and the last 2 minutes was the most intense I have ever heard…
Oh My. It looks like quite a few things have changed in the past 4 weeks.
Versus Storylines: Rollison, Tuu’ua healthy, unlike last time. Texans must face 2 All-Americans it did not have to face in round one. So, TSU comes back to Commerce, and we must win this game, and the next to notch a slot in the Division II playoffs. Really, not much has changed in the 4 weeks…
5 Thoughts- 1. First, congratulations to the Lady Lions Soccer squad for their 1-0 win over Eastern New Mexico to clinch another LSC Title. Jade Bell hit a net breaker to seal the win in the 65th minute, and Neal Piper once again shows what he can do with the talent that he has. Expect…
Your Lions are Conference Champions for the 22nd time in program history, and the first outright title since 1990. Write up coming Manana.
Versus When: Saturday, November 1st, 4 PM Where: Texas A&M University-Commerce Memorial Stadium Weather: 55 Degrees At Kickoff, North Wind at 11 MPH Thoughts: Just in case some of you had heard the news, West Texas A&M got their hand caught in the cookie jar yet again. Long story short, a backup kicker was coerced…
The McMurry Warhawks come to the Blacklands on Saturday, and this is the biggest game in Commerce probably since the mid 1990’s. They are expected a record crowd to be there, perhaps more than attended the National Championship game played in December of 1972. There are a lot of storylines, so lets get to it.…
Five Thoughts- 1. Not all is lost. In fact, the Lions have 3 games to prove that they have it this year. Crush McMurry, hopefully draw Midwestern State in the first game of the LSC playoffs and drill them at home, and beat ASU at home again. Also, beating McMurry will give the Lions the…
Oh My Gosh. I am sick. I am just sick. I cannot believe we lost this game. There are so many things that went wrong tonight. Injuries, idiotic refs, poor 4th quarter play calling, and 37 points scored in the second half. I am going to have to think about what I am going to…
