Storylines:

Go Streaking-Two weeks ago, the Lions started a streak of wins with a solid win over Texas A&M-Kingsville and then a blowout win over U of Fort Lauderdale. This also helped to have a 3 game home streak, and this is the second of 3 home games, and in comes a team we have never faced, Saginaw Valley State. The Cardinals are members of the GLIAC, where they are with familiar Lion playoff foes Ferris State and Grand Valley State. The Lions have won 2 straight games, and now are tasked with winning the next 6. The Lions HAVE TO WIN OUT in order to get to the playoffs. It is that simple.

Problems Solved?-A lot of the offensive problems the team was having seem to be making a very good trajectory upwards. As Russ talked about in his analysis, the 4th and 3rd down conversion rates have massively improved. We will face a test about as good as Texas A&M-Kingsville was, as the Cardinals defeated the Hogs 14-9 to start the season. How much the offense has improved will have a more stout test.

From AFCA Without Love-For the first time since 2012, the Lions are not receiving votes in the AFCA Coaches Poll, but ironically moved up 3 spots from # 25 last week to # 22 in the D2football.com poll. This helps out and I have always believed based on how we get treated after losses that the coaches poll is not a fan of ours, but the D2 poll is always more accurate overall. However, we have to know that this is just how it is, in 3 weeks, the first Regional Rankings will come out. Just time to knuckle up and show the D2 world what we are made of. Also, CSU-Pueblo’s recent success and MSU’s loss, not to mention West Florida outscoring everyone may actually help our cause.
