The Morning Wire: February 19

Here is your weekly dose of everything Texas A&M-Commerce Lion related. Let’s get to it.

Women’s Hoops-

Well, the Lion Women finally had more than 2 competitive games, as they Lady Aggies from Cameron gave them a good one, but the Lions did what they have done all year, and that is pull together and take home win number 24 for the year. The Lion Women are currently holding steady at 3 in the nation, with two huge games upcoming. The Lion Women host Eastern New Mexico Thursday night, and then face off against perennial LSC power West Texas A&M Saturday at 2 PM.  After those two games, the Ladies close out the season on the road at Oklahoma Christian and Arkansas-Fort Smith before the LSC tournament in Frisco.

Men’s Hoops-

The Lion Men clinched the LSC Co-Divisional title, but did not clinch the outright title after dropping a heartbreaker to Cameron by a point. So many of the Lion losses have been in close games, but the Lions face a tough road to traverse to get back to the NCAA tournament. Like their Female counterparts, the Lion Men host Eastern New Mexico Thursday night and face a # 3 ranked West Texas A&M Buffalo team on Saturday at 4. The Lions probably are looking at a middle tier seed in the LSC tournament should they split their final four games.

Softball-

After a 10 day layoff, the Lion Softball team head to Edmond, Oklahoma for the Central Oklahoma Regional Softball tournament. The Lions face Fort Hayes State Friday Morning at 10, then later that day face Nebraska-Kearney at 2 PM that same Friday. Saturday Morning they face off against Rogers State at Noon, and finish the tournament with host Central Oklahoma Saturday afternoon at 4 PM.

Track-

The Lion track teams competed well in the Pittsburg State Invitation for their final indoor meet of the season. The Lions head to Lubbock for the LSC Track and Field Indoor Championships at the Texas Tech campus this Saturday and Sunday. The Men are looking for their first indoor title in 2 years while the Women are looking for, and have a strong chance, to claim their first LSC Indoor title.
