Major props to the Division Champion Texas A&M-Commerce Volleyball team, which swept UT-Tyler to finish the regular season as Division Champions, tied for the Regular season Championship, and will be hosting the Lone Star Conference Tournament this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and appear to be in a prime place to head back to the NCAA Tournament. At 24-5 overall, this is a watershed moment for the program, probably the largest since almost winning a National Championship since 1980. Thursday night the Lions will play the winner of the Lubbock Christian/Texas Woman’s first round game in Lubbock. The match starts at 7:30. GET TO THE FIELDHOUSE AND SUPPORT THIS TEAM.
Jason Burton’s squad is 3-0 with a win over Ouachita Baptist last Thursday. The Lions will be playing a de-facto home game Thursday night at Moody Coliseum on the Southern Methodist University campus in Dallas as the Fieldhouse will be hosting the LSC Volleyball semifinal that night. The Lions face off against St. Mary’s, tipping off at 5:30.
Coach Rose’s squad looks to get back to the .500 mark after picking up their first win of the season last week by holding on to beat Central Baptist College. The Lions host Hardin-Simmons Monday Night at 6, and like their Women counterparts have a Thursday night tilt at SMU’s Moody Coliseum against St. Mary’s to open Conference play with a 7:45 tip time.
The Lions face # 3 Tarleton State in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. This will be the last time for sure that these two teams play each other as Division II foes. The Lions will be traveling to Stephenville for this game and what a huge game this is. For the past 4 weeks, every game has been win or the season is over. That continues and we will have previews on the Texans and how we match up this time around. The game kicks off at 1 PM on Saturday.
