Storylines: The Lions have a tall task as they head out west to take on an improving West Texas A&M program in their beautiful new stadium. Our Editor Russell McLean will be on the ground reporting from the Texas Panhandle to cover the game. The Lions face a WT team that is 5-2 and has just on the outside of the top 25 all season. With the new regional rankings that have just come out that have the Lions at 6th, a lot can happen in the next 3 weeks in this regular season. A road win over a good WT team on national TV should do wonders for the cause of this season. The Lions however HAVE TO win out to get back to the playoffs. One more regular season loss, and the season is essentially over or we are more than likely headed to the Heart of Texas Bowl in Waco. That is worst case scenario.

That being said, if the Lions can win the remaining 3 games with what they have and allow starters who have been injured to get healthy, this team could be a major player in the playoffs. Guys like EJ Thompson, Chance Cooper, Alex Shillow, and other important role guys have been injured and another couple of weeks of rest and therapy might do them well and if even just MOST of those guys return, we could make a serious run at a national title. We have the talent and this squad is just 3 scores away from being undefeated playing against some good teams.

But, one game at a time. This week, it is West Texas A&M, they are the biggest game of the season so far, and if the Lions win this one, UT-Permian Basin will be the biggest game in the history of this season. And so on.
