Storylines: This is a big game. I have said that about the previous 4, but this is a huge game. Bragging rights, conference positions, and the chance to take down a foe that has been a thorn in our paws for many years now. ESPN is in town. If the Lions want to make a statement, this is the time to do it. Midwestern State is 3-2, so they are down, but far from being out. Bill Maskill, love him or hate him, has his group ready to play every game.

If the Lion offense plays the way they did against Eastern New Mexico, this is going to be a very long night for the Midwestern Defense. If the Lion Defense plays the way they did the past two games, it is going to be very tough for Midwestern to score. All in all, I really like our chances.

Two things are going to happen, either this will be a typical knock down, drag out fight between these two, or the Lions are going to blow the Mustangs out. Getting this team at home has been better, but with the confidence the offense is emitting right now and the defense adjusting as they go, it could get very entertaining on the Blackland Prairies Saturday night. This is also a game to see how well we measure up for the biggest test of the year coming in two weeks, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Hall of Fame and Letterwinners weekend against a big rival on ESPN. Does not get better than that, and the chances to make a statement don’t get any bigger than that.
