Another week, another wire. Let’s get to it.
Women’s Basketball-
The Women dropped a hard fought decision to a ranked West Texas A&M squad in Commerce on Senior Day 71-60. The game was tied going into the final 10 minutes, but West Texas used strong shooting to outscore the Lions 21-11 in the final frame and pull away. The Loss drops the Lions to 17-9 with two games left. The Lions take on Texas-Permian Basin and Western New Mexico this coming week, if they were to win both games, that would be the second most wins for a Jason Burton coached team in the regular season. At this point, probably the only (and best) shot the Lions have to get to the NCAA tournament is to win the LSC tournament and get an at large bid. Even winning it is not really a necessity as getting to the Championship game would get the group 21 wins and two quality wins no doubt. The LSC tournament is March 7-10 at the Comerica Center in Frisco.
Men’s Basketball-
Like their Women counterparts, the Men dropped a hard fought game against a top 5 ranked West Texas team 81-69. The Men Held a 1 point lead at the half, but in a matter of 2 minutes, 5 turnovers turned into 15 quick West Texas A&M points that built a double digit lead that the Buffs never let go of en route to the win. The Lions lost any chance of winning a regular season LSC Championship, so facing off with the Buffs in the LSC tournament is their only chance at redemption. The Men do sit very well in the regional rankings right now and so long as they do not lose this week and perform somewhat well in the LSC tournament, it looks the Lions are going back to the NCAA tournament for the 4th time in 5 years. They face UT-Permian Basin and Western New Mexico on the road before heading to the LSC tournament.
Softball-
Softball team pushed their record to 16-2 overall after sweeping UTPB in Odessa. The Lions host St. Edwards in Commerce early in the week before heading to Kingsville for a weekend 3 game stand against the Javelinas.

Remember…Dr Pepper, not Dr. Pepper…might want to photoshop that off since the city seems to leave it on the wall despite notice.
Thanks for all your work.
Thanks for the heads up. If they give me any trouble, we will just change the picture. Haha.
