Storylines: A heads up, I will be at First and Ten in Lakewood in Dallas for the watch party. Hope to see some of your there. This game will come down to the following:
- If the Lion defense holds the Minnesota-Duluth offense at bay, that is half of the battle. Not allowing The Bulldogs to play clock control but forcing their offense into third and longs and putting their pressure on them is going to be the silver bullet.
- The Offense does not need to explode, it just needs to do the little things right. I used to talk about using the fear of the pass to set up the run, but with this group, I think that using the fear of the run will help set up the pass. Last week you saw Kane Wilson move around in the pocket and execute the plays that opened up the field like the flanker slip screen and the the intermediate throws that moved the ball, but you also saw Angelo flood the running lanes. If Ovie Urevbu and Carandal Hale have good games, we probably win this thing.
- Special teams just needs to do their jobs. Punt well, make field goals, cover well on punts and kickoffs. If there are any big plays, great, but just making routine plays will do it.
- Play relaxed, and be excited to be here. Do not overhype it, but don’t not expect to be there. This is a winnable game, but respect the opponent, but know how much better you have gotten since week one.
- So, be more excited to play, do your jobs, and be a team. Do that, and I believe we will see this team in Stephenville for a rematch with Tarleton State, or back at The Hawk, hosting Azusa Pacific.
