Memorial Stadium was home to a large crowd of teams and spectators as The Lion Track team hosted the East Texas State Relays On Saturday. The Women ran away with the Title scoring 231 points, beating rival Tarleton State, who placed second, by almost 120 points. On the Men’s side, they won the Team Title as well with 195 points, besting LSC foe Tarleton State by 95.5 points.

After finishing 3rd in the Kingsville Relays and 2nd in the Angelo State Relays, the Ladies added a Team Gold to keep them ranked the NCAA Division 2 poll at # 7. The Men season started off sputtering somewhat, but that changed as they are now ranked 4th in the country after impressive showings in Kingsville, San Angelo, and now Commerce. Both Teams will take a West Coast Swing to El Camino College in Torrance, CA April 19-21st for the Mt. SAC Relays.

The Softball team at A&M-Commerce continues it’s historic and unbelievable ascent to the top as they are now ranked 7th in the country after defeating Western New Mexico in a dominating 18-3 Fashion. With a 35-5 record overall and a 20-4 LSC play record, this looks to be a preview of a team ready to go back to the NCAA tournament. The Lions are tied with Angelo State for first place with a 20-4 LSC record and will host the Rambelles for a 3 game home stand at John Cain Family Complex Friday-Saturday. A crucial stretch of games is ahead to see if this group can cement it’s hold on first place.

Golf-

The Lion WOmen’s Golf team picked up a huge tournament win at the BanccorpSouth Invitational at Henderson State University. Finishing a full 5 strokes ahead of it’s nearest competitor, Arkansas-Fort Smith, it gives this group momentum heading into The LSC Tournament Championships in Abilene April 23-24. Last year, the Women took a strong finish into the LSC tournament, but this could be the year the Lion Women win their first LSC golf title.

The Men’s golf team looks to take dead aim at repeating as Lone Star Conference Champions after taking the Arkansas Fort Smith Invitational. It was their third tournament win this season, after winning Western New Mexico Invitational and The TAMUC Lion Classic in Garland earlier this spring. The Men can take 4 first place trophy and have a record season if they can notch a victory at the LSC tournament in 2 weeks. The Men linksters are ranked 20th in the nation and 3rd in the NCAA South Central Rankings.
