A few words here.
It has been a long time since we have started the season on the road, even longer since it has been two games into the season. I loved opening the season at home, but thats the just way the ball is going to roll this year I guess.
William Jewell-Got to head to Missouri to open the season against a team that went 2-9 last season and that the Lions easily handled in Commerce last year.
Eastern New Mexico was really playing some good football at the end of the year last year and should have at least gone to a bowl, and in my opinion should have made the playoffs. We know what to expect when we go out there, a mean triple option attack in a tough environment.
Kingsville-The Last time the Hoggies came to Commerce, the Lions almost lost and it almost turned into a post game brawl. Expect Kingsville to be better and another dogfight.
CSU-Pueblo-The Wolves went to the first round of the playoffs and are an in region opponent. They almost beat Minnesota State-Mankato in the first round, losing 16-13. A 9 win team last year and they will be no pushover. They will be the first home game of the season.
Midwestern-I am fine playing them in Wichita Falls again. It will be more fun to whip their butts on their field in front of their obnoxious fans and then listen to what their arrogant radio guys have to say about that.
Tarleton-Big time Game. Texans are back and reloaded. This will be a tough home game, and all rivalry games are.
Western New Mexico-I am actually very worried about this game. Western’s very good QB that we did not face last year returns, and we have to travel almost 900 miles for this game. The Lions did not play well last time in Silver City, and while it was good enough to win, it was not exactly a convincing win.
West Texas A&M-Why not hammer West Texas and treat them like a Homecoming patsy,?After everything they have tried to do in smearing Colby and Don Carthel, making our athletic department look bad, writing articles in the Amarillo paper about what bad sports we are and listening to their head coach crying about us beating them. Oh yeah, that would be 5 in a row against the Buffalo Chips.
UT-Permian Basin-I would love a great game against the Falcons, but I believe they are just not there yet. We win this one big on the field that Mojo built.
Angelo-The Rams will be tough like they always are in a game that honors our Seniors and Veterans also.
