BREAKING: Lion Basketball Teams Advance to LSC Semifinals with big first round wins.

Its been a busy couple of days in Lion Hoops so let’s get to it.

Thursday, March 1st, LSC Women’s First Round

Texas A&M-Commerce Lions-93

Cameron Aggies-89

In a huge win that avenged an earlier season loss. The win gives the Lions an 18-11 record overall, their best record since Jason Burton took over. Brianna Wise hit for a game high 28 and Princess Davis put in 27 as the Lions roared in the final 10 minutes to force overtime, and then outscored Cameron 11-7 in the Overtime period to advance to face West Texas A&M at noon on Saturday in the LSC Semifinals. The Lions defeated WT in Canyon earlier in the season and dropped one of their final games at home to the Lady Buffs, so this is going to be an exciting game, and I wager that whoever wins this game, wins the LSC tournament. Jason Burton coached a masterful game from what I could see and I am curious to see what this matchup with WT holds. The Lady Buffs are essentially a lock for the National Tournament, The Lions win this one and that makes them essentially a lock. Big, big game.

Friday, March 2, LSC First Round (Men’s)

Texas A&M-Commerce-76

Angelo State Rams-63

With Jared Von Rosenberg, The name of the game is defense. The Lions yet again held another opponent to under 65 points and won, and every time that has happened except twice, they have won the games. The Lions are very tough to beat whenever they play a tough defense, and with the way they have played the last 3 games, it is some of the best defense I have seen EVER. All the offense has to do is have an average night if the defense plays like it has, and usually that creates a ton of fast break points and points off turnovers. The Lions pushed their record to 21-7 and will either face Eastern New Mexico or West Texas A&M Saturday Night at 8:30 PM. The Lions have beaten both, but have also dropped close ones to both, so that is something that is not a toss up.

It’s March, and right now we have Madness.
