Impact Players-
QB Josh Mangana-After his first start went very well, the Lion QB hopes to build on his success and a much improved offensive output against a Cowboys defense strapped the defensive backfield.
RB Reggie Branch-Have to get him going early and often. He is the feature back.
DB Max Epps-Had another terrific game last week despite his unit as a whole not playing well.
DB Jordan Polk-Had a huge interception that set up a score and kept the game within reach early.
Storylines-2 weeks ago, The Lion defense put together their best defensive game of the year, maybe of even the decade. Last week, a struggling Lion offense rolled up almost 400 yards of offense, scored 27 points, had 21 first downs, and vastly improved. If both sides of the ball can both execute TOGETHER (in addition to special teams), the Lions could very well get their first win of the season against a McNeese program in turmoil. The Cowboys are 0-5 and the natives in Lake Charles are close to burning down the town as it is with some losses that have been hard to swallow, and while the Lions are 0-4, the Lions have come through a much tougher schedule than the Cowboys. HC Clint Dolezel talked about how injuries have once again bitten the Lions, hopefully we will see the return of some or most of those key players. The murderers row gauntlet is over, and a win at home, in conference, against McNeese State would do wonders for the season that has started out so rough.
