Another Lion has answered the roll call. Johnie Herndon lettered at East Texas State from 1988-1989, where he was an All-LSC Conference Back in 1989 and an integral part of the 1988’s team resurgence back into the Lone Star Conference.

Before his time in Commerce, Herndon was an outstanding back for the Dangerfield Tigers of the 1980’s and the Tyler Junior College Apaches Football squad, where he was a record setting back. After his time in college, he worked for the Texas Department of Transportation, making a career with TXDOT.

Services honoring the life of Mr. Johnie B. Hurndon, Jr, 54, of Daingerfield will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Daingerfield High School Auditorium, 202 Tiger Dr. Burial will follow in Whitmore Cemetery.
