What a day. If Kickoff is Christmas Day, and the release of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football is Christmas Eve, then national signing day is Thanksgiving. (Being tongue in cheek). Anyway, let’s start with the class. Full List: 2018 A&M-COMMERCE FOOTBALL SIGNEES NAME HOMETOWN HIGH SCHOOL HT. WT. POS. Emmanuel Adagbon Mesquite, Texas Mesquite Horn HS…
This was not a good weekend for either the Men’s or Women’s Hoopsters. The Women dropped a 64-60 loss at Eastern New Mexico. After leading most of the way, the Zias of ENMU outscored the Lions by 5 points in the final 10 minutes to take the win. The women are still in first place,…
The Scene: Pure Bedlam.. On a cold evening at Texas A&M-Commerce’s Memorial Stadium on Ernest Hawkins field, students and fans rushed the field to celebrate something they have not celebrated in 45 years. Their team was going to the National Championship. In fact, that very day marked 45 years since The Lions lifted the N.A.I.A…
A few quick thoughts: They needed this one. The past couple of weeks have been rough for the Lions. Losses to UTPB and West Texas on the road, a tough overtime win over Midwestern State, and a loss to Cameron. Over the past 5 games, the Lions have a 2-3 record. They needed this win…
A few thoughts: Basketball is a mental game. I played it all my life. Confidence can be bolstered by beating a good team, winning a game you were not supposed to win, or making a huge play in a crunch time situation. On the flip side, it can be eradicated by losing to a tough…

A three pointer with .06 left in the game pushed the A&M-Commerce Lions in overtime against a salty Midwestern State team, and then back into the LSC win column with a 91-88 win Thursday night in Commerce. With that win, the Lions push their record to 16-3 overall and 8-2 in LSC play. This was…
The Lion Women avenged their only LSC loss by taking down MSU’s Lady Mustangs with a big win over Midwestern State. The Ladies secure their lead on first place in the LSC and push their record to 14-5 overall and 10-1 in LSC play.
This weekend was a fantastic weekend for the Women’s Basketball team as they picked up two HUGE wins on the road. Knocking off Texas-Permian Basin in Odessa and then heading up the road to knock off a ranked West Texas team showed that this team is primed to be an LSC contender for the regular…
It is the first win in Canyon in 13 years. Not even the 2006-07 team can say they beat a ranked WT team on the road. A HUGE win. The Lions push their record to 12-5 overall, and to a 9-1 LSC record to stay in a strong first place position. This team is legit.…
Luis Perez will be suiting up for the final time before the NFL draft in April as he will suit up with the National Team in today’s game slated for a 3 PM kickoff at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. For Perez, it is his final ever college game, and fitting that after…
Lions lose in the worst way possible, after the Falcons missed a game winning shot, a rebound squeaked it’s way through a Lion’s hand and the Falcons picked up the ball and put the ball in. The shot appeared to be after the buzzer, but after looking at the shot for a good 3-4 minutes,…
It’s been a slugfest on the Permian Basin, with the two teams exchanging blows. This one will come down to the wire. Second half coming up.
Lions pick up a huge road win and are now number 1 in the LSC with an 11-5 record overall and 8-1 in LSC play. Thoughts on this and their huge game against West Texas A&M on Friday.
The Lions pick up another big win to stay undefeated and in first place in the Lone Star Conference and 14-1 overall. It was truly a tale of halves. The Lions dominated TSU for the first half, and then the Texans came back and actually outscored the Lions by 2 in the second half, but…
Jason Burton coached his 100th game and it was a good one and an important one, as the Lions pushed their record to 9-5 overall and notched another huge LSC win to move to 6-1 as the Lions downed arch-rival Tarleton State 68-62. Burton’s career record is now 59-41 overall and 36-23 in LSC play…
Women’s- Texas A&M-Commerce-78, Angelo State-74 Senior Brianna Wise hit for 22 points as the A&M-Commerce Women’s team moved to 8-5 overall, and most importantly 5-1 in LSC play. A few thoughts: I said that one thing that would be a deciding factor in how the Lion Women end up this season is how they would…
Junior Guard Willie Rooks scored 19 points while Reggie Reid added 16 and Aaron Horne 11 as The 18th ranked Texas A&M-Commerce Men’s Basketball team pushed their record to 12-1 overall and 5-1 in LSC play with a 73-62 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Thursday night at University Fieldhouse in Commerce. The Lions will face another…

The Lady Cagers of TAMUC started fast and never looked back leading 33-25 at the half before keeping…
