Greetings, Lion fans, and this week’s edition of the Notebook needs no extra hype or buildup. If you’re a football fan, these are the kinds of games you live for. #1 against #1. The best offense in the Southland Conference vs. the best defense, the Blue Gang of Texas A&M-Commerce. This Saturday at 2pm in…

Greetings, Lion fans, and I know in the past the cliche “biggest game of the year” has been thrown around quite a bit, especially by yours truly, but in this case, it’s true. This Saturday is a battle for Southland Conference supremacy. Win, and the Lions could control their own destiny in search of a…

Overall-A win. A sloppy, messy, undisciplined win. But a Win. Lions have now won 4 straight games and are undefeated in Southland Conference play. This team showed that even thought it kept tripping over one coffee table after another and did multiple things that would torpedo an average team’s attempt to win a game, but…

Greetings, Lions fans, and as the saying in radio goes…”the hits just keep on coming.” After giving up one touchdown after a turnover on a short field, and a 12 play, 87-yard drive, and aided by a well-timed David Bailiff motivational lecture, the Blue Gang defense shut the door. An early 15-7 Lion deficit turned…

Greetings, Lion fans, and in the days to come following the completion of the 2022 Lion football season, there will be signposts along the way to determine just how things went for A&M-Commerce in their inaugural Southland Conference season. What follows is one of those moments, and it was a good one. 10:27 left, second…

Overall-Let me start by saying this. Whether anyone is a friend, foe, or indifferent to Lion football, know this. We are in first place in the Southland Conference for a reason. We have a Championship quality program with deep tradition. We are known for potent offenses and elite defenses. We have created chaos in the…

Greetings, Lion fans. Well, the Blue Gang did it again. The rest of the Southland Conference and a crowded Strawberry Stadium in Hammond, Louisiana, found out what we already knew. That the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions can play well at this level, and that the Blue Gang Mentality is much like The Force in the Star…

4:45 4th Quarter, Texas A&M Commerce 31, Southeastern Louisiana 28. If there was ever a turning point to the Lions 2022 season, it was at this moment. #19 Southeastern, in front a raucous Homecoming crowd, had just scored and cut the Commerce lead to three points. In past games, we’ve seen them unable to rise…

A Defining Win-That is first and foremost what this was. A program defining win. A David Bailiff defining win. A Lion Football defining win. After a 2-2 start which saw injuries, a heartbreaking last second loss, and a few entitled players leaving the program, we now have a team that has been forged by fire…

Southeastern is currently ranked #20 in the AFCA FCS poll, just two spots ahead of a familiar name,…

Greetings, Lion fans, having a week off halfway through the season is certainly a welcome relief, this week it’s back to the grind and the beginning of Southland Conference play. Brian and I thought this would be an ideal spot to reflect on the season so far. What’s gone well, what hasn’t, and what has…

I hate that I missed this game for a plethora of reasons but long story short, I got there and had not been feeling well the entire day. I got to tailgate around 2 and was there for about an hour before I realized I had bad case of hay fever. So back home I…
