Monday afternoon I had the opportunity and privilege on being on the KETR program “The Backlands Cafe” with John Mark Dempsey. We had been in the works of having a brief interview, but I could not pass up this chance to plug the blog to the region’s source for news and information. I want to thank John Mark for the chance to do the radio show and also the Men who are members of the ETSU former players association for making the blog reach out to as many as possible. I am truly honored and blessed.
The interview will be airing sometime next week and will plug the link to this page and also do not forget to check out the Facebook page and Like it and add it to your pages. Just search Blogging the Backlands in the search section and like it.
Dave Campbell’s Texas Football came out late last week. I got my copy earlier today on my way back from the Doctor’s. This year’s coverboys are Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury and Tech Quarterback Patrick Mahomes. I read a lot of it tonight and hat tip to our own Brock Calloway for his write up on the LSC section of the magazine. DCTF picks us to repeat as Champions and I would say that is a pretty accurate prediction from what I can see so far, but Midwestern, that thorn in our side is very good and Angelo will also be tough as always. Eastern New Mexico will be tough as always and it will be interesting to see how our rivals in Stephenville, Kingsville, and Canyon will improve and how much so if any at all. Finally, I am anxious to see how adding UT-Permian Basin, Western New Mexico and Oklahoma Panhandle State will help the LSC.
Finally, I have a video of former Lion QB Bob Bounds in his glory days rushing for a Touchdown during his starting days for the AFL’s Cleveland Thunderbolts below.
