The eclipse is not the only big thing coming up in North and Northeast Texas in a few days. The 2024 Blue and Gold Spring Football game will give us a preview of things to come in September and after last year’s awful season, it will be interesting to see if the changes that were…

Greetings, Lion fans, and finally, some happier news to report. For football fanatics like Brian and I, there, there are few days like this……Opening Weekend. The thrill of a deep playoff run. A huge Junior Day, like depicted here in 2023. Then, there are now two signing days. The Early Signing Period for Division 1…
(Greetings, Lion fans. This one is a little different, and from the heart. Please Allow me.) To My Guys: I don’t know many of you. Some, I’ve met in passing. Some, I’ve shook hand with and chatted after a game. Some, like Mitchell McGarry, I’ve gotten to know pretty well. You’re still my guys. How?…
Before I start, I will apologize for calling Don Meredith, one of the great Cowboys “Dan Meredith” in the last podcast, just don’t let my Dad know, he might disinherit Me. Ive been dealing with some radically bad allergies and sinus issues the past week so i’ll blame it on the medications. Good news is…
Greetings, Lions fans. The staff here at The Wire sincerely hopes that everyone is enjoying a Merry Christmas and have many good things to look forward to in 2024. Traditionally, it has been that, except for teams in a national championship or playoff game, most seasons would be concluded by now, and we would all…
The year was 1931. From the time that collegiate football first arrived in Commerce, East Texas State Normal College had not done much to really speak of or shout about. The team had some winning seasons in the early years, but the 1920’s were absolutely awful and by far the worst decade in school history,…
Despite the trials of this season, if you are a Lion, you always have reason to feel proud of your roots, especially in football. Football is the prime sport here in Texas, but it is more than just about Football, it is about both fans and players alike remembering the great and deep rooted tradition…
Greetings, Lion fans, and there’s no other way to describe last night, and the entirety of the 2023 season is, “Thank Goodness it’s over.” A 52-14 beatdown at the hands of a 3-7 Southeastern Louisiana team finally ended what has to be the poorest season in recent memory for the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce. Let’s…
We’ll chat about this later.
One more quarter and this nightmare is over.
Greetings, Lion fans, and with the cancelation of the Northwestern State game, we have come to the end of the 2023 season. There are rumors of a replacement game to be held next week in Commerce, but there is nothing official yet. As soon as we know something, The Lion Wire will have it out…
Greetings, Lion fans, and we wish there were better news to report, but alas, there isn’t, so let’s get right to it…. OFFENSE: In a word, offensive. Despite 300 total yards, and averaging almost 3.5 yards per rush, the Lion offense sputtered yet again. What is so frustrating is that the same mistakes are being…
Lions kick to start the second half.
Go Lions
Greetings, Lion fans, and in this week’s edition of the Notebook, we’ll take a look at what seems to be a very even matchup between the Lions and Cardinals of Lamar this Saturday in Beaumont. First, though, we’ll take a look back at one of the most frustrating losses in 2023, 17-13 to Houston Christian.…
Greetings, Lion fans, and I wish there were better news to report than on a 1-7 season, but this is where they are entering into the final two games of the season this week against an improved 4-4 Lamar team and ending their 2023 season in Commerce against a 1-7 Southeastern Louisiana squad, who has…
Overall-I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is the new normal. We have lost 10 out of the last 11 games and something has become apparent this far into the season. This program is in over its head. The effort of the players has been there all year, and the defense…
